This week’s Classic Recording is the Spellbinder Tapes telling of Benjamin Franklin, a 40-minute short story that recounts the miraculous life of one of America’s most beloved forefathers. Complete with quaint music and a great group of voice actors, Benjamin Franklin is a fun and memorable listen, especially for children that might not yet know the story. Side B of this tape tells the epic adventure of Daniel Boone, which we’ll post up in our Classic Recordings section tomorrow night!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to re-live my childhood! Would you be able to post the George Washington recording?

Thanks so much for posting this. I grew up listening to this tape and I still remember some of the voices and dialogue! I am 37 years old now but listened to it intently as a kid. Do you have any others? I had hans brinker and the silver skates, the american revolution, this one, and some others I do not recall at the moment. Thanks so much for making me remember my childhood like this, i even wrote my mom an email about it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Ive tried finding these for a long time now. As a kid i used to listen to these when laying down for bed. I wanted to b able to let my kids hear them as i did. Its funny, i still remember much of the dialogue on the B. Franklin tape, it was my favorite.
