CURSE OF CHUCKY To Begin Shooting This Fall

CHUCKY is back!! The long-awaited CHILD’S PLAY remake is still in the developmental stage over at MGM but Universal Pictures, which produced and distributed CHILD’S PLAY 2 through SEED OF CHUCKY has put into motion plans to make another sequel with CURSE OF CHUCKY.

The film, (which completely ignores the two previous sequels that followed CHILD’S PLAY 3) is expected to shoot this September with series creator and writer Don Mancini at the helm for the latest installment.

Universal Home Entertainment will distribute the film with Brad Dourif returning to voice the serial killing doll, alongside Jake Busey and Frank Stallone. While CURSE OF CHUCKY will still have some comedic elements in play, the film wants to divert back to the days when Chucky himself was actually scary and I hope that’s something the remake does as well.

I was a huge fan of the first three films in the series but after that, things got a bit ridiculous with Chucky taking on a bride and later a son/daughter. We’ll keep you posted on the remake and this latest follow-up but until then, check out the synopsis for the latter below.

CURSE OF CHUCKY sees the infamous serial killing child’s toy wreck havoc within a family that’s regrouped for a funeral. In the wake of her mother’s passing, a young woman – in a wheelchair since birth – is forced to put up with her sister, brother-in-law, niece and their nanny as they say their goodbyes to mother. When people start turning up dead, the fearless Nica discovers the culprit might be a “strange doll” she was sent a couple of days earlier.
