We just reported that Cole Hauser (2 FAST 2 FURIOUS, PITCH BLACK) had joined the cast of Antoine Fuqua’s (TRAINING DAY, SHOOTER) upcoming White House thriller OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN and now the other White House themed pic, WHITE HOUSE DOWN has James Woods in talks to star in that one.
To be directed by Roland Emmerich (INDEPENDENCE DAY) who’ll work from a script by James Vanderbilt (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN), the action pic finds the White House under siege by a paramilitary group that holds everyone inside hostage. Channing Tatum is set to play the Secret Service agent who tries to save the president when the White House is attacked. Jamie Foxx (DJANGO UNCHAINED) plays the President of the United States with Maggie Gyllenhaal (THE DARK KNIGHT) also in talks to star. Woods would play the head of the presidential detail.
The film will be produced by Bradley Fischer, Vanderbilt and Laeta Kalogridis for Mythology Entertainment with Emmerich and Harald Kloser also producing. Filming on WHITE HOUSE DOWN is expected to begin in August for a November 1, 2013 release. Sony Pictures is distributing.
Woods was last seen on the big screen in Screen Gems’ STRAW DOGS remake and voiced a character in HAPPY FEET TWO.
