Late last night, we reported that Jamie Foxx (DJANGO UNCHAINED) was in talks to play the president in Roland Emmerich’s upcoming thriller WHITE HOUSE DOWN and now Maggie Gyllenhaal (THE DARK KNIGHT) has begun negotiations to star as the films female lead.
With a script by James Vanderbilt (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN), the action pic finds the White House under siege by a paramilitary group that holds everyone inside hostage. Channing Tatum is set to play the Secret Service agent who tries to save the president when the White House is attacked. The film will be produced by Bradley Fischer, Vanderbilt and Laeta Kalogridis for Mythology Entertainment with Emmerich and Harald Kloser also producing.
Filming on WHITE HOUSE DOWN is expected to begin this summer for a November 1, 2013 release. Sony Pictures is distributing. In case you didn’t know, there is a rival project with a similar premise over at Millennium Entertainment titled WHITE HOUSE TAKEN which has Gerard Butler attached to star.
