With the box office success Steven Soderbergh’s MAGIC MIKE is currently enjoying ($75M here in the states, the film opened today in most international markets), it’s no secret that Warner Bros. would gladly welcome a sequel. That said, star Channing Tatum recently spoke with Glamour UK (via CelebBuzz) and when asked about the possibility of a MAGIC MIKE 2, the actor said, “Yes, yes and yes! We’re working on the concept now. We want to flip the script and make it bigger.”
Soderbergh’s R-rated male-stripper film features a cast that also includes Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Matthew McConaughey, Cody Horn and Olivia Munn (yes there are actually females in this movie) but at this early stage, we don’t know who would return for the sequel. Soderbergh included.
Nonetheless, with MAGIC MIKE now playing internationally, the money will continue to rack in which would mean bigger paychecks for those involved once contract signing for MM2 rolls around. Either way, I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
