Game Review – Silent Hunter 5: Battle of The Atlantic (PC)

on Thu, Jan 19, 2012 | By Dave

In a way, even though Silent Hunter 5 is over a year and a half old, I consider this review to be a great example of how a game can initially be panned by critics for release day bugs and dreadful DRM, yet eventually rise from the ashes and become what I and many other sub “simmers” would call a masterpiece, worthy to be called the best yet in the long running series....

Game Review – iRacing (PC)

on Wed, Jan 18, 2012 | By Dave

Have you ever wanted to get on a race track and run some laps in a Chevrolet Corvette C6R at Laguna Seca or a Dallara IndyCar at one of the most prestigious tracks in all of Motorsports at the Indianapolis MotorSpeedway for the Indy500? The latter would probably cost someone hundreds of thousands of dollars. Which for me probably doesn’t fit in my budget. Lucky for you this...

Game Review – Shadow Complex (Xbox 360)

on Tue, Jan 17, 2012 | By Dave

Shadow Complex Anyone remember Super Metroid for the Super Nintendo? Hours of A+ platforming and exploration in the deep, dark labyrinths of Planet Zebes. Unlocking new weapons, upgrades, and maps were your only chances of survival. In a way, platforming is a lost art, never done better than the classic days of Mario, Sonic, and Metroid! Not until now, that is. Shadow Complex,...

TV Review – Napoleon Dynamite Episode 1

on Mon, Jan 16, 2012 | By Dave

It’s not a Sledgehammer… Loved the movie. Prime time cartoon on Fox….meh. I laughed a few times, but for the most part I sort of just watched a cartoon trying a little “too” hard to be funny. Whether it was the toned down dialogue or the over-the-top finale of Kip Vs. Napoleon, something just quite didn’t connect. The return of the entire...

Golden Globes for American Horror Story & Game of Thrones!

on Mon, Jan 16, 2012 | By Dave

Two of my favorite shows walked away from the Globes last night with some much deserved acclaim. Jessica Lange, who played the fabulously horrible neighbor, Constance Langdon, in American Horror Story, won Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or TV Movie. Peter Dinklage also won Best Supporting Actor, Series, Miniseries or Movie, for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister,...

Movie Review – Apollo 18

on Mon, Jan 16, 2012 | By Dave

January 16, 2012 By Dave “There’s a reason we’ve never gone back to the moon.” I can think of at least 10 reasons why I didn’t enjoy Apollo 18, and although not without one or possibly two semi-interesting things going on, it fails hard, and on multiple levels . As the minutes go by, you’ll wonder how incredibly worse and cliché it can get....

CES: A First-Timer’s Impression of the Wii U – Wii Feature at IGN

on Fri, Jan 13, 2012 | By Dave

CES: A First-Timer’s Impression of the Wii U – Wii Feature at IGN. Owning a Wii is a blessing and a curse. On the one hand I get to play some of the best game franchises ever made: Mario, Zelda, & Metroid. Their magnificent game play coupled with the innovative controls of the Wii motion controller (now even better with the MotionPlus addition) is nothing short...
